Unlike a gasoline engine that uses a spark plug, a diesel engine ignites fuel by compressing air to a very high temperature, then injecting fuel into the hot air. Course Syllabus

Diesel engine fundamentals: Introduction to 2-stroke and 4-stroke engines, basic principles like compression ignition, and engine components such as cylinders, pistons, and crankshafts.
Fuel and air systems: Fuel supply systems (filters, pumps, injectors), air intake and exhaust systems (turbochargers, intercoolers), and different types of fuel injection (mechanical, common rail).
Engine systems: Electrical systems (starters, alternators), cooling and lubrication systems, and hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
Safety and regulations: Workshop safety, proper handling of fuel and equipment, and environmental regulations.
Basic skills: Workshop calculation and science, engineering drawing, and employability skills.

Practical skills

Workshop operations: Implementing safety protocols, using hand and power tools, and performing basic fitting operations like marking, drilling, and fastening.
Engine maintenance: Dismantling and assembling engine components, servicing fuel injection systems, and performing maintenance on cooling and lubrication systems.
Diagnostics and troubleshooting: Using tools to diagnose faults such as starting issues, smoke, or power loss, and performing quality checks on repaired engines.
Specialized skills: Welding (arc and oxy-acetylene), heat treatment, and using diagnostic tools.
